According to Sport, Barcelona want Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera following his impressive season at Old Trafford.
The incoming boss Ernesto Valverde who is set to take over the reins from Luis Enrique wants a reunion with Herrera.
Valverde worked with Herrera at Athletic Bilbao and he is keen on bringing back the player to the La Liga. Herrera has a year left on his contract. Jose Mourinho is likely to offer him a new deal soonest but the latest Blaugrana tactician hopes to convince him to reject the terms.
Spanish sources have widely reported that Valverde would be announced as the replacement for Enrique. He agreed a two-year deal with the board and President Josep Maria Bartomeu would make the announcement on Monday after the Copa del Rey final this week.
As Barcelona are planning to get Herrera, Manchester United and Man City are reportedly planning to convince Neymar to exit the Catalan side. After the protracted transfer saga involving the player and the Spanish authorities, the player’s father is believed to be championing the exit of the Brazilian star.
Neymar continued his brilliant attacking display but he added just 13 goals to his La Liga tally this season. With Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and other stars, Neymar has not been shining as bright as he does for the national team. If there ever is a chance that he would exit the team, United and City want to be favourites.
Jeremy Matthieu is set to exit this summer. Javier Mascherano’s future is debatable as the new boss wants to build a solid defence. Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij is expected to move to Barca this summer as he is being scouted for the role. Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez is making waves in Europe. Real Madrid and Barca are believed to be eyeing the 20-year old.
