The Spanish La Liga will have an entertaining end to the current season, with the heavyweight clubs all engaged in a rat race to clinch the title this campaign. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Sevilla, and Atlético Madrid are all in the running to end the season as League Champions and it is expected to be a cracker before the season finally comes to an end.
Real Madrid have had a strange season that has seen them suffer a couple of injuries to several of their star players this season, and all credits to them for still being in contention to lift the title. Their captain Sergio Ramos, has been a part of the list of players to have suffered different injuries, including Eden Hazard, Luka Modric, Marcelo, Lucas Vasquez, Marco Asensio, and so on. This lest is a long one, and while some of these players have returned from their injuries, others have not.
For Barcelona, a change of managers meant that they would be needing some time to have their players adapt to a new pattern of football and that's exactly how it happened. Ronald Koeman was replacing Quique Setien and as expected, a new playing philosophy would be introduced which the players would need to get used to.
After a turbulent first few months of struggles, Barca finally found their form and are currently one of the most in-form teams in the league. Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, will have only themselves to blame if they slip up in the title race. After a strong start to the season that saw them establish a 14-point gap over second place, they have dropped precious points in their past fixtures and the next three teams have come close to them.
Sevilla are the surprise package. With 74 points (level with Real and Barca) in fourth place, they're giving the big boys a run for their money and Mascherano says the league race is an exciting one to watch.
