Speaking after the game, Scholes was far from pleased from the Red Devils’ display and said that the team were below par barring the seven-minute period in the second half. He added that the likes of Fred and Pereira were guilty of being dispossessed on numerous occasions and they clearly need to up their performance to remain regulars in the Premier League.
“He [Solskjaer] got seven minutes of a reaction, that was it. The first hour was probably as bad as you’ve seen. When you go to places like Sheffield United, anywhere away in the Premier League, you have to realise for 20-25 minutes it’s going to be a fight. You’re not just going to be left in possession with the ball. You’re going to be tackled, you’re going to expect challenges. think as soon as Fred and Pereira realise that it’s not always going to be easy-oozy in a Premier League game away from home the better,” he told Sky Sports.
United are currently eighth on the Premier League table with 17 points on the board and they are already nine points behind fourth-placed Chelsea. As a result, the pressure is certainly mounting on the shoulders of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and he could be sacked during the festive period, where United have the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City to face.
